TEST USED BY DR. WHITTENBERG
Conners’ 3:
Includes three types of scales—parent, teacher, and
self-report—designed to access a broad range of problem
behaviors such as conduct problems, cognitive problems, anxiety
problems, and social problems. The test is suitable for ages 3
to 17.
This scale also includes computer
software that generates a very extensive narrative report
consisting of a detail description of the behavior that
corresponds with the child’s score on each of the subscales. The
Conners’ 3 Rating Scale also includes parent and teacher
feedback forms where the child’s scores are presented in a
booklet form where each scale is described in easy to understand
language.
Conner’s
Comprehensive Rating Scale (CBRS):
This test assesses a wide range of behavioral, emotional,
social, and academic concerns and disorders in children and
adolescents. Parents and teacher ratings can be obtained for
youth 6 to 18 years old. It is helpful to obtain information for
parents and teachers, and the children themselves in order to
have a wider variety of observations that can be compared to one
another. The Conner’s CBRS scales include Emotional Distress,
Aggressive Behaviors, Academic Difficulties,
Hyperactivity/Social Problems, Separation Fears, Perfectionist
and Compulsive Behaviors, Violence Potential and Physical
Symptoms.
Behavior Assessment
for Children—2nd Edition (BASC-2):
Also contains parent, teacher, and self-report scales and is
suitable for ages 2 to 25 years of age. Contains ten clinical
scales that include measures for hyperactivity, aggression,
conduct problems, anxiety, depression, somatization, attention
problems, learning problems, atypicality (odd or immature
behavior), and social withdrawal.
This test also includes Parent
Feedback Forms where the results of the different areas of the
test are communicated to parent in easy to understand language.
The tests also have computer software that scores the test and
generates an extensive narrative report.
MINNESOTA MULTIPHASIC PERSONALITY
INVENTORY - ADOLESCENT (MMPI-A):
The (MMPI-A) is designed to identify a large number of
psychological problems specifically associated with adolescents.
Helps provide information to aid in problem identification,
diagnosis, and treatment planning for adolescents. Appropriate
for ages 14 to 18 years. Test provides easy-to-understand
information to share with parents, teachers, and others in the
adolescent’s support group. Contains 478 items and is self-
administered in the psychologist’s office.
Test includes over 90 scales that
measures areas such as social alienation, negative peer group
influences, and family discord as well as major psychological
diagnoses such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia,
etc.
Reynolds
Intellectual Assessment Scales (RIAS):
An individually administered test of intelligence appropriate
for ages 3 through 94 years of age. Includes a two-subtest
Verbal Intelligence Index and a two-subtest Nonverbal
Intelligence index. These are combined to form the Composite
Intelligence Index. This test is designed to provide for
accurate prediction of basic academic achievement and also
eliminates the dependence on reading in the basic measure of
intelligence. This test also contains a memory assessment.
The RIAS is helpful in the diagnosis
of developmental disorders where intellectual functioning is an
issue such as mental retardation, learning disability,
giftedness, memory impairment and emotional disturbance.
Vineland Adaptive
Behavior Scales, 2nd Edition (Vineland-II):
This test measures the personal and social adaptive behavior
skills of individuals from birth through adulthood. Adaptive
behavior refers to an individual’s typical performance of the
day to day activities required for personal and social
sufficiency. The scales assess what an individual actually does,
rather than what he or she is able to do. The Vineland-Il
assesses adaptive behavior in four domains: Communication, Daily
Living Skills, Socialization, and Motor Skills. It also provides
a composite score that summarizes the individual’s performance
across all four domains.
Leiter
International Performance Scale- Revised (Leiter-R):
A non-verbal test of intelligence, memory and attention for
children and adolescents ages 2 through 20 years of age who may
have communication disorders, developmental delay, ADHD, and
certain types of learning disorders. Rating scales are available
for Self, Parent, Teacher, and Examiners; and this provides a
more accurate clinical picture due to the wider variety of
responses ranging over various environmental settings (home,
school, examiner’s office, etc.).
